COVID-19 MEXICO

#DoseofHumanity.
The best recipe against the pandemic

Creating an outreach strategy of diffusion for the genetic and environmental pediatric cancer research

The Foundation LLYC volunteers in Mexico have joined Médicos sin Fronteras who help in a communication campaign with the objective of raising awareness and fighting against the stigma and discrimination towards health groups, patients and other vulnerable populations in the COVID-19 pandemic situation in Mexico and other Central American countries, after the varios situations of violence that have occured against these groups.

During almost 2 months, 11 volunteers from LLYC worked on the development, execution and the monitoring of different actions of communication; all aligned with the MSF campaigns: #MedicalStrengthTeam #DoseofHumanity

Thanks to the efforts of the volunteers team, more than 60 publications and 30 interviews were achieved in national, state and local print, radio and television media, including: Milenio Televisión, Latin Us, El Heraldo, El Universal, Publimetro, Reforma, Radio Centro, Televisa Monterrey and Carmen Aristegui’s news programme, among others.

A call was also made to lifestyle, health, fitness and travel influencers to create a message in their windows, through an alliance with Post-It, contributing to the de-stigmatisation of health professionals and inviting their audiences to join this gesture of collective support. An important impact was achieved thanks to influencers such as: Mr Doctor, Mónica Etzel , Luisa Fernanda Islas o Mariel de Viaje.

“Being able to work together with Médicos Sin Fronteras in positioning a campaign to help eradicate discrimination and attacks on health professionals, following the situation in Mexico, has been a great opportunity for both my team and me to do our bit and join in the fight against the pandemic”.
