Dominican Republic Children's Villages

Superheroes without cape.

Soft skills development

As part of the celebration of the International Meeting, the partners and directors of LLYC together with more than 150 children from small villages and INICIA Educación let their imagination fly together. With a game, they aimed to find a creative, imaginary and innovative solution to the major challenges we face as a society today. To identify them, we based ourselves on the Sustainable Development Goals, 17 goals promoted by the United Nations for the adoption of measures to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.

Led by their coaches, all the young people came up with exciting, dynamic and original proposals that were enjoyed by all those who were there. For example, we discovered ideas such as a pocket device that uses fingerprints to diagnose illnesses, the aim of which was that everyone should have access to healthcare, even if they live in towns or rural areas far from medical centres.

Impact.

Familiarisation with the SDGs, development of soft skills, as well as intercultural and intergenerational knowledge exchange.

"A superhero is a fictional character who has supernatural abilities and excels at helping the community by taking on all sorts of evil characters. Children from Aldeas Infantiles and INICIA Educación and our partners and directors become superheroes without capes to find TOGETHER a creative, innovative and fun solution to the great challenges facing our society".
